Fiber Laser Cutting Machine

Laser industry ,arises in the late 20th century , is the post popular means ,At present ,there are many  R&D , production or processing enterprises of laser machine , such as laser marking machine , laser engraving machine , laser welding machine , laser ink jet printer ,laser cutting machine . 

Fiber Laser cutting machine  is used to cut sheet metals like mild steels , stainless steel,  aluminum , brass , copper etc. 

Laser cutting is a non convectional , non contact machining process . non contact machining means the tool ( which is laser beam itself  )  doesn't make contact with the  work piece ( which is the sheet metal ). 

Different  types of laser - 

 According to the principles of laser beam generation it is broadly classified into below categories :

4)  Fiber Laser 

 Out of the above four types Fiber Laser is widely used in industrial applications now a days because  of its design simplicity , hassle free installation  , easy maintenance  , low operating cost , Long working life ( > 100000 hours on a average )  . 

Important parts of Fiber Laser Cutting Machine -

All the parts of a fiber laser cutting machine is divided into following four major Sections.

1) Electrical  Section

2) Mechanical Section

3) Optics Section

4) Control & Software Section

Electrical  Section of fiber laser machine - 

Electrical section has following parts 

1) Isolation transformer   -  

An isolation transformer is used to transfer electrical power from an AC source  to some equipment while isolating primary and secondary winding for safety reason . Safety in the sense any kind of electric shock or short circuit in incoming AC source will not harm the load equipment because of isolation and vice versa. Because of very sensitive parts are used in fiber laser cutting machine the use of isolation transformer is very imminent.

2)  Electric control cabinet -  

      Electric control cabinet houses all the electrical and electronic components like MCB , Control relay , servo drives , Smps , CPU unit , IO Board  Etc. These components are used to control all the operations of  Machine like controlling laser beam, gas flow control, all axis movement, exhaust fan control etc.

3) Fiber Laser source -

Above is the photo of a 1 kw fiber laser source. Fiber laser source is the equipment where laser beam is generated . the yellow cable you see  is called the optical fiber cable through which laser beam gets transmitted from source to cutting head .  

Water Chiller -

In metal  laser cutting machine water chiller is used for cooling purpose of laser cutting head & laser source. It has dual temperature control capacity which means temperature of  laser source & laser cutting head will be controlled from different controller .  

Mechanical Section of fiber laser machine - 

1)  Linear motion guide way -

 Linear motion guide way is used to support leaner movement of all the axis of the machine by recirculating rolling elements between a profiled rail and a bearing block .

2)  Geared Rack and pinion -

It is used to transmit rotational motion of servo motor into linear motion. A rack and pinion system consists of a pinion( a circular gear) with a rack( a linear gear ). Pinion is connected to the shaft of servo motor. When the motor shaft rotates the geared pinion meshes with a geared rack which converts to linear motion.

3) Work Bed of Fiber laser cutting machine - 

To produce laser cutting  machine , choosing the machine body is very  important . 

There're 3 kinds of  sheet metal  laser cutters machine body in market : tube welding , plate welding and cast iron .

Normally one standard cast iron 1530  machining bed is at least  4-5 tons.  

4  ) Optics section of fiber laser cutting machine - 

Laser head is very important part of fiber laser cutting machine , At the very beginning , laser cutters used one lens with only one focal length , which greatly restricted laser cutting . 

 However, after the appearance of  multi - lens laser technology, laser cutting took place at higher peed and its quality has increased as well. Although initially , lenses replacement was a complicated process in which the cutter head needed to be dismantled and it lasted for a relatively long time , many companies decided  to install additional lenses into their laser cutter.
